Perdana Menteri Jepang Junichiro Koizumi berjanji akan memberikan bantuan kepada Indonesia bagi pelaksanaan Pemilu tahun depan. Jepang berharap agar situasi Propinsi Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) kondusif menjelang berlangsungnya Pemilu 2004 tersebut.
